Beginning of Spring & Feng Shui Significance

Li-Chun (立春)

I noticed the rain tree near my home is flowering again. Many flowering plants will start flowering and blooming in the time of spring. In Feng Shui, we are particular about 4 February, as it marks the beginning of Spring. We call it Li-Chun (立春).

Every year, to the Chinese, the beginning of spring is called the Li-Chun (立春). Under the Chinese solar calendar, there are 24 solar terms, known as Jie-Qi (節氣). Li-Chun is the first term of the 24 solar term. It is an important day to the ancient Chinese farmers.

Li-Chun (立春) usually begins around February 4 and ends around February 18 under the Gregorian or also called the Western calendar.
A more astrological explanation would be the the starting of Li-Chun (立春) begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 315° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 330°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 315°. Under the Chinese farmers tradition, a clear day on Li-Chun (立春) would means good harvest throughout the whole year.But if its a raining day, the Chinese farmers would take extra precaution on their crops for that year.

 

Significance of Li-Chun (立春) in Feng Shui

In Feng Shui, the year beginning of a new year is marked by Li-Chun (立春).
